yes, it offends me
so.
i've mentioned this before, but it's come up again.
i LOVED the band Does It Offend You, Yeah? when i first heard them. they were tough-ass electro:
awesome.
i was SO looking forward to their album, which took FOREVER to finish. along the way, there was a collab with ex-DFA1979 sebastien grainger that fucking ruled:
then the album finally came out... and it disappointed me. hard.
the awesome (can you tell i'm an american?) electro sound was replaced by THE SAME SOUND EVERY OTHER BAND HAS.
goddammit.
check it:
hi, we'rethe killers bloc party arcade fire does it offend you, yeah?.
fuckers.
i mean, i guess i have no call to be indignant, it's just that i've been pimping these guys for what, 18 months or something? dammit. i've been hoodwinked.

desert island discs
a classic: five desert island discs
this list probably changes with the wind. were i actually on a desert island, i would likely suffer from desert island disc remorse.
i trying to go less with "classic" discs, and more toward discs that i *always* enjoy listening to, and in a variety of genres.

sorry the video is a bit dark. i'm going to split the songs up and hit up youtube; maybe it'll be lighter on there.

mumbai dabbawalas (short video)
jen & i watched this the other day. it's an interesting (and short) documentary on mumbai's dabbawalas, an occupation unique to india (and even to mumbai?). basically, imagine fast-food-type delivery service, except that every recipient is getting a home-cooked meal from his own home.
you've got to see it to believe it: something like 175K - 200K tiffins (lunch boxes) are delivered to their customers from the customers' own homes, via public transport. by lunch time.
wow.
