November 28th: hibernator milestone

Day 72
Woke at 1:30. Finally cracked that noon barrier, and how. Had coffee, blogged, ate a roll, showered, played piano, had dinner, played more piano.
Nigel came in at one point still casting ambivalence over the Christmas program, (so now it's 3 songs?) and I had to show him that you could indeed find lyrics to any song via the wonderful internet.
Blogged some more, uploaded pics, drank the rest of my wine, chatted with Rhys, a potential addition to the western contingent of Haimen teachers. He's applying at Dongzhou Middle School and may be here in a fortnight. (Apparently, by using search words like "haimen" and "teach" he stumbled upon my blog.) He asked assurance of his job's validity, and I explained that the Chinese conduct their affairs by a "seat-of-the-trousers" modus operandi and that "concrete assurances" were a luxury suffered by Anglo-Saxons. Somehow I put his mind at ease. I look forward to meeting him as I sense a "Withnail & I" camaraderie with this bloke.
